Why There Is No Medical 'Cure' For Cancer The late 1950's were a frightening time in which to be growing up. In school we were learning about the 'warning signs of cancer' and practicing air raid drills in the halls. It seemed that if the Soviets didn't get us with the bomb, then cancer would. There was no defense against the bomb, and there was no known cure for cancer. Both were an unequivocal death sentence. The first cancer death I experienced was that of an 11-year-old friend. That was 45 years ago. He got the death sentence; there would be others. Nearly a half-century later, there is still no medical 'cure' for cancer and I don't believe there ever will be. Why? Because medicine is chasing its own tail while barking up the wrong tree! What do I mean? Medicine is looking for the answer but lives and works in the wrong paradigm; it is lost there. Left in the hands of medicine, cancer will kill you if the treatment doesn't kill you first. The difference in me, today, is that I don't believe cancer is an automatic death sentence unless you accept that verdict from the medical profession and allow its practitioners to assist you in carrying it out. And today, I firmly believe that cancer is, for the most part, a disease that has its roots and origins in the way we live. Genetics may play a part in it, in so far as it can be resisted better by some than by others, but cancer is really and truly part of our lifestyle. Medical science tells us that cancer cells are formed within us daily, and that so long as our body and immune system are up to the task, these cancer cells are constantly being destroyed. Viewed in this context, what we call 'carcinogens' may not so much 'cause' cancer as damage, inhibit, or alter the immune system and other body systems so that some of the many cancer cells that are always coursing through our bodies get the opportunity to take hold and establish themselves as 'symptoms' of a so-called 'disease.' That's right, a cancerous growth is not a disease but a symptom, a symptom of poor health. This also tells me that there can be no medical 'cure' for cancer and that the only way to effect healing -- not 'cure' -- is to remove the source of the problem -- whatever it is that's destroying the immune or other systems -- and do everything possible to bolster and support the body's natural affinity for health.
